Tidal Basin Group is growing, and we are seeking a dynamic Director of Capture to oversee the operations of our capture department and manage the capture team. This role will focus on coordinating internal capture pursuits, leveraging data-driven insights, guiding the creation and execution of strategic capture plans by the capture team, and directly managing specific plans to support our growth objectives. Additionally, this role will oversee capture research and analytics, CRM pipeline administration, and reporting.
The Director of Capture will be responsible for standardizing and enhancing best practices, cultivating a robust capture culture, and ensuring effective team management. Collaboration with executive leadership, business unit leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and all functional support teams—including business development, proposals, marketing, communications, contracts, finance, human resources, IT, and other stakeholders—is essential for the successful development and execution of capture plans.
The ideal candidate will possess strategic thinking and project management skills, along with subject matter expertise, to navigate opportunities during the capture phase and coordinate with stakeholders throughout the proposal delivery process. A strong executive presence, commitment to integrity, and a responsible, confident demeanor are crucial. The candidate must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, an ability to prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and effectively lead a team of capture development professionals.
This position also involves managing, guiding, and training both direct and indirect reports. The success of the capture team will greatly depend on the Director's ability to enhance and develop the team's skills and knowledge base, ensuring the creation of effective, high-quality capture strategies and plans that position us for success. Some travel may be required for meetings or events. The estimated travel commitment is 10-15%.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Capture Project Management: Directly manage select capture pursuits, while overseeing team members and managing other opportunities to ensure cohesive execution, win strategies, and win theme messaging.
Research, Analytics, and CRM Oversight: Lead a team responsible for pipeline tracking, research, and data analysis to inform capture strategies and maintain an organized CRM.
Content and Strategy Handoff: Develop and package key content and positioning for each pursuit, preparing it for transition to the proposal team when the RFP is released.
Proposal Review: Provide feedback on proposals to ensure consistent messaging, tone, and integration of win themes, ensuring alignment with the initial capture strategy.
Team Coordination and Development: Facilitate collaboration across internal teams, coaching capture team members to enhance skills and support their professional growth.

The candidate should also possess the following skills and abilities:
Deep understanding of the SLED capture processes and demonstrated experience leading such efforts. Federal knowledge is a plus.
Displayed capacity to excel in ambitious, fast-paced environments, effectively managing competing priorities and driving initiatives to fruition independently.
Familiarity with CRM systems for data management and reporting, and other relevant software to enhance the efficiency of the capture process.
Experience with GovWin and other government research and procurement tools.
Interact effectively with all levels of management, staff, and internal and external stakeholders.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively communicating across diverse audiences.

Required Education and Experience:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or English is required; Master’s preferred.
Years of Experience:
5+ in capture management or business development in government contracting (emphasis on state and local), with hands-on project management experience.
5+ years of direct team leadership experience.
Proven ability to manage, coach, and lead a diverse team, including capture professionals and research/CRM specialists.
Strong understanding of government acquisition processes and compliance standards.
