This is a potential future opportunity. Tidal Basin seeks candidates for the role of Case Manager for the Lasting Manatee Housing Recovery Program (HRP). The Case Manager will support and promote housing recovery funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR). As a Case Manager, you will work closely with other members of the Case Management Team, the Program Manager, senior Tidal Basin staff, and subject matter experts; clearly communicate information regarding applicant engagement, community outreach, and file review and processing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Duties
Willingness and ability to work on-site in Manatee County to support an intake center with operating hours of 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Saturday. Work will be limited to 40 hours per week, organized into a shift that occurs within the center’s operating hours. Limited overtime may be required, when necessary.
Work closely with program leadership, staff, and applicants to ensure that applicants fully understand the program requirements and are frequently updated on application and grant progress throughout the case management process.
Gather, scan, and store required program intake, eligibility and other required information in electronic databases and case management systems.
Prepare letters to applicants and other required program documents.
Communicate with applicants by phone and email to regarding program requirements and case status
Ensure all hard copy and automated files are updated and maintained in strict accordance with established policies and procedures.
Interact with project lead and staff from local, state and federal government agencies, as applicable.
Log and provide up to date information on cases progressing from intake to closeout, including to support broader reporting requirements.
Responds to telephone, email, and walk-in inquiries about program requirements and status of housing program applications.
Meet or exceed all assigned production goals and communicate with the case management lead if there is a barrier affecting production.
Work as part of a team providing expert services to conduct case management, eligibility and duplication of benefit reviews of Lasting Manatee HRP applications in compliance with Federal, state, and local guidelines including CDBG-DR funding requirements.
Provide review of HRP applications to ensure compliance with federal regulations (CDBG-DR, cross-cutting federal requirements, duplication of benefits, etc.).
Effectively evaluate HRP applications and supporting documentation for eligibility and compliance.
Remain knowledgeable of and follow all operating procedures, policies, and guidelines.
Ensure health and safety guidelines are established and followed
Report on required metrics for schedules, timelines, and workflows.
Skills and Competencies
The candidate should possess the following:
Technical
Experience facilitating client applications to public benefit programs.
Experience in reviewing details of tax, real estate, and income documentation, in a professional environment.
Demonstrated ability to review documents at a close level of detail and catch subtle differences.
Experience in analyzing information and problem-solving.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
Familiarity with using systems of record to enter record applicant and program information
Ability to learn, analyze, and understand complex program requirements and documents
Organization and Soft Skills
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to articulate details in a manner understandable to a variety of individuals, in person and over the phone.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Skilled in multi-tasking, organizing and prioritizing work to meet project deadlines.
Ability to work successfully with socio-economic and culturally diverse applicants.
A flexible schedule that can accommodate some evening or weekend work as may be required.
Preferred candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Education and Experience:
Degree: Associates degree or higher preferred but not required
Years of Experience: 2+ years of work experience with case management, public housing, or disaster recovery related work..
Additional Qualifications:
Experience in disaster recovery and/or housing support services or programs. Previous CDBG-DR case management experience is preferred.
