In preparation for potential activations resulting from recent disaster events, Tidal Basin Group is building our team and anticipate having opportunities for experienced Debris Field Supervisors. This position will be responsible for direct supervision of debris monitoring activities. Qualified candidates will possess attention to detail and a commitment to their team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include:
Responsible for the quality assurance of debris monitoring field operations.
Maintain project tools, equipment, and paperwork.
Assist in morning sign in procedures.
Assist operations manager with training classes or remediation as required.
Assist monitors with electronic ticket process.
QA/QC debris monitor work, including tickets, logs, and 214 Daily Activity Logs.
Ensure monitors are working in correct areas, including within the client’s jurisdiction and approved debris removal sites.
Visit your assigned monitors multiple times per day, spending quality time with them reviewing their work, answering questions, and ensuring activities are conducted safely and correctly.
Ensure work is being done safely, and contractors are adhering to program requirements, including the removal of only eligible debris and Management of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Controls (TTC) is being implemented where required.
Attend daily safety meetings and reinforce safety topics to monitors.
Enforcement of project information passed down from the operations manager.
Resolve field conflict that may arise between monitors or between monitors and debris removal contractors in a respectful and professional manner.
Must be able to answer questions from monitors on eligibility and debris monitoring and collection best practices.
Resolve conflict that may arise in the field in a professional and respectful way.
Complete required trainings.
Skills and Competencies:
Basic knowledge for operating a windows-based laptop
Basic knowledge for operating a tablet and troubleshooting issues.
Possess an appropriate understanding of FEMA’s PA program related to debris removal.
Positive, friendly, courteous customer and client skills.
Capacity to build a strong team, be a team leader, and share knowledge.
Good teamwork and cooperation skills.
Ability to follow safety protocols and work instructions.
Ability to communicate verbally in English and write legibly.
Ability to pass a drug screen, motor vehicle, and criminal background check.
Must have a valid State Driver's License.
Possess a cellular phone with vehicle charger.
Ability to drive and work in areas with disaster and harsh outdoor conditions.
Ability to supervise others effectively and positively.
Ability to work as early as 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week during response period: with occasional hours of 14-18 hours per day.
Ability to work up to 100+ hours per week as needed during response period, including weekends.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Ability to travel to and monitor various work sites daily in disaster affected areas.
Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and challenging environments.
Ability to work up to twelve-hour shifts and maintaining flexibility for longer shifts as needed.
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift 25 lbs. throughout the day.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
Prior Debris Monitoring Experience.
Prior Debris Field Supervisor experience.
Debris experience with data management/entry, operations, or administrative, preferred.
