Position Summary:
Tidal Basin is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Florida Building Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects comply with building codes, regulations, and safety standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, quality inspection techniques, and the ability to analyze blueprints and schematics. The Building Inspector will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of structures and ensuring the safety of the community.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of residential and commercial buildings during various stages of construction.
  • Review and analyze blueprints, schematics, and contracts to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Perform quality inspections to assess the workmanship and materials used in construction projects.
  • Collect data on construction practices and site conditions to identify potential issues or violations.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and architects to address any discrepancies or concerns found during inspections.
  • Document findings and prepare detailed reports outlining inspection results and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on changes in building codes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Proven experience in construction inspection or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of quality inspection processes and techniques to include building cods, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience working on construction sites with an understanding of safety protocols.
  • Ability to analyze data effectively to make informed decisions regarding compliance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies.

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering is preferred.
  • Must have valid state driver’s license.
  • Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience in concrete, steel, masonry, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing inspection for buildings.

Physical Requirements:
  • Some standing, walking, moving, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and reaching is required.
  • Must have the physical ability to bend, crawl and climb over construction sites and within buildings.
