THIS IS A SHORT-TERM TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Position Summary
The Underwriter is responsible for conducting comprehensive underwriting reviews for all Program cases in compliance with HUD and PRDOH criteria. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to evaluate applicants’ financial viability. The Underwriter will request additional documentation as necessary, prepare Award Notifications, and coordinate pre-Grant closing documents prior to Environmental Review and/or Award Coordination. The position is temporary/part-time to provide services as needed. Work can be done remotely.Job Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Conduct underwriting reviews for all program cases in accordance with HUD’s and PRDOH’s underwriting criteria.
- Evaluate applicants for financial viability based on program requirements.
- Request additional information and supporting documentation from applicants as needed.
- Identify qualified applicants and prepare award notifications.
- Send pre-grant closing documents prior to Environmental Review and/or Award Coordination.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, specifically 24 CFR Part 570, Appendix A.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Effective written and verbal communication in both Spanish and English.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from an accredited institution, with major coursework in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Real Estate, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in commercial and residential underwriting, credit analysis, and risk analysis in a bank, commercial lender, private equity firm, lending institution, bank regulator, or financial advisory firm.
- Technical Expertise:
- Loan underwriting for commercial and residential real estate, industrial facilities, and various loan types.
- Credit file and report reviews, appraisal reviews, and pro forma analysis for development, operational, and financial projections.
- Review of construction estimates, property condition reports, debt structures, and cash flow analysis.
- Risk analysis, debt coverage reviews, and market/industry data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of financial ratio analysis tools.
- Language Skills: Bilingual – fluent in Spanish and English (speak, read, write, and communicate effectively).
