Position Summary: The Director, Response (Debris), assigned to the Response team within the Management Consulting Services business unit, assists the Senior Director, Response with the day-to-day management of the Response Unit including but not limited to contract oversight, client management, business development, implementation and development of policy, supervision of assigned staff, and supporting business unit operational and management goals.
Tidal Basin supports our clients across the country in rebuilding and restoring communities impacted by disasters. We have an opportunity for a talented senior leader in the Debris Management and Monitoring field to join our Tidal Basin team. This position will be responsible for growing and overseeing the company’s Debris Monitoring business sector, building relationships with state, local and federal clients, managing the Tidal Basin Debris team, and growing relationships with teaming partners.
Remote work may be considered for candidates who live more than 50 miles from one of our corporate office locations. However, candidates should also be prepared to report onsite to a designated corporate office location if their home residence is within approximately 50 miles. The ability to travel to client locations and deploy for extended periods of time is a requirement of this position.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate pre-event activities with the Client and stakeholders and ensure required information is obtained from the Client for operational planning.
- Act as the engagement manager for assigned projects, maintaining client relationships, ensuring contract compliance, monitoring financial targets, and liaising between client and Tidal Basin staff when necessary.
- Supervise and mentor assigned staff, including monitoring project and other assigned work, conducting performance appraisals, and assisting with professional development.
- Responsible for ensuring all work is performed safely.
- Ensure all work performed is in accordance with Tidal Basin’s policies.
- Provide management of operations including monitoring project budget and overall costs associated with project, utilizing technology to facilitate efficiencies.
- Provide daily project oversight and quality assurance.
- Work with the hauling contractor to make sure debris removal efforts are accomplished efficiently and effectively.
- Responsible for communicating project status and projected timelines to senior leadership throughout the project.
- Ensure client project documentation is in accordance with FEMA policy.
- Promptly resolve any contract, performance, or personnel issues, notifying all appropriate parties.
- Provide technical assistance to the Client in all phases of debris operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong understanding of the disaster Debris Management sector and demonstrated ability to develop strong business development proposals to win additional contracts
- Demonstrated ability to execute Debris Monitoring field operations
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across diverse audiences, as well as negotiate and resolve problems
- Demonstrated Project Management abilities to manage, organize, and prioritize operations
- Must be highly independent, capable of making decisions in a highly charged and dynamic environment, and skilled in team building and consensus building.
- Excellent client relations and an understanding of local, state, and federal government structure.
- Ability to manage project budgets and create meaningful projections for strategic decision making.
- Ability to manage client expectations, subcontractor relationships, and overall contract with client to ensure success.
- Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain federal and agency policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally, individually and in groups with internal contacts, property owners, and other organizations or officials as appropriate.
- Ability to travel and deploy as needed (up to 75%)
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Emergency Management or related fields.
- 7+ years of experience in disaster recovery work with a focus on Debris Management
- 5+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity
- Previous experience in disaster debris private sector work is preferred
- PMP preferred
- CEM or equivalent state certification preferred
